Why I Am A Christian

Why I Am A Christian

This past Sunday at Hot Metal was amazing.

Jeff made a point that had never crossed my mind before.

"This is the reason I am not buddhist or muslim, not that I have anything against buddhism, heck if you are buddhist welcome to our church. But the reason I'm not buddhist is because, when I look at buddha I see a man hunched over, eyes down to the floor, big belly, meditating and shut off from the world. The God I worship is on a cross with his arms open wide, eyes to the sky, and in the face of fear never flinched. He cried out, My God, My God why have you forsaken me? My Jesus is hardcore, man."

Jesus is the reason I worship. I'm not ashamed of where I've been because of who I am now. Anorexia, my brother's death, bad relationship choices...I tried so hard to get through it alone. Then I think about Jesus, I think about all of the "Do not be afraid"s, and I am so thankful for the trials in my life. I want more. Because God gets the ultimate glory when I overcome them.

Lord of the Universe- my God and my Jesus- I praise you for the times in my life that I had no one to understand me, no one to trust, no one to confide in... because finally I found You. Amen.
